While I conceded that such a setup is possible, I did not recommend it. You don't create a VPN to your bank, your e-mail provider, and so on, too. Pj0e wrote:Yes, it would be awesome especiall when using RTRR betweer two QNAP NAS over the internet ! It's commonly agreed in the industry that SSH and SSL based connectivity is used for this kind of communication. It is definitely already possible to setup VPN " tunnels" on the NAS, so no new feature is required for this functionality at all. QNAP devices are NAS devices rather than Routers, so there is no WebUI support for this, and I sincerely doubt there ever will be. This is a not a good project for Linux newbies, (VPN technology requires a better than average knowledge of networking and routing, (as well as Linux knowledge if you want to implement this on your NAS devices)). I'm afraid I can't help much with this personally, as I implement all my OpenVPN " tunnels" at my Router. Other Community members have successfully set this up previously use the Advanced search function of this Forums system (located at the top of every page in this Forum), to find previous message threads on this subject. If you want to use it for outbound " tunnels" you simply need to write your own invocation scripts and configuration files to connect to your VPN provider, or remote NAS that is running OpenVPN as a server. It is located at /usr/sbin/openvpn on your NAS. Thanks! OpenVPN uses the exact same binary for both client and server.

So this feature would not require too many work I think.

There is already a OpenVPN server software on the NAS. You could download torrents safely without showing your real IP. Trinida wrote:It would be a great feature! This would enable the NAS to connect to encrypted connection tunnels.
